

The Cotswold hills stretch from just south of Stratford on Avon almost to Bristol and Bath a distance of some 40 miles and it is generally considered that the Cotswolds forms part of the very"Heart of England" Accessible from "Acorn Cottage" within 45 minutes drive is Oxford (the ancient seat of learning),Cheltenham Spa, (where you can partake of the waters) , Stratford on Avon (the home of "the Bard") and the Royal Shakespeare Company Warwick with its castle ,Leamington Spa the Roman city of Corinium (now known as Cirencester) and Worcester noted for its royal pottery- not forgetting the honeypot villages of Broadway, Stow- in- the- Wold, Bourton- on- the- Water and Moreton- in- the- Marsh.

More westwards can be found Hereford the Malvern hills and beyond them the Welsh mountains. Truly a distinctive area with such easy access to both historical and thriving cities and towns sporting a wide range of culture and activities.

Antique stores teashops (for that romantic afternoon tea with your ladyfriend- even your spouse; ) markets (including farmers' markets) country shows and flower festivals abound in this area. Truly a trip down Memory Lane to remind ourselves of the greatness of our country and to be able to reminisce about former happier and peaceful times in our own history when we had time to engage in conversation and enjoy a quality of life rarely found in our present daily pursuits.
